Design Details – A Full Renovation

Everyone’s journey to upgrading and creating the home of their dreams is different. Home improvements are always a good investment and impact your enjoyment of your property. Being happy in your home is so important, as it’s the foundation for contentment. There is lots of joy in creating a home and it is often a journey. Not everyone wants to move home to benefit from a more functional or just uplifting environment.

You may choose to undertake home improvements in stages, as funds allow, or makeover your home as one single project. The ‘how’ doesn’t really matter, sometimes it requires patience, but the end result is the same a home that suits your needs and reflects you. As a local and experienced window and door installation company, we take pride in offering our customers a service with great value and only quality products. Our ability to advise customers on what additions may match or contrast any existing features to really enhance the overall look of their property is another source of pride. With over 15yrs experience, we have worked on such a large variety of properties and can offer much needed input as to which products to choose to achieve the home that both expresses your individual style but also one that aligns with the original property design.

This wonderful bungalow, in Pontefract, is an example of a property we were tasked with achieving a full makeover.  A home renovation, where our new windows, patio doors, fascias and soffits, blend with existing front and back doors to provide a facelift for a much-loved home. It is easy to expect a big impact from upgrading a single aspect of your home. It goes without saying that any new door provides improved security, energy efficiency and gives your property a facelift. And it is also true that the improved aesthetics provided by new doors gives a greater kerb appeal to your property. Front doors are a focal point for any home. Something that often draws your eye first, as a result of their design or colour, or both. They often benefit from being framed by other features such as a porch, so they are a high impact feature without a doubt. But if the other external features of your home are, provide an obvious contrast to your new door, they are aged and showing obvious wear and tear, then this dilutes the effects of a single home improvement.

As with any design, home design is the same. You have the option of choosing windows and doors in colours that either match, whether this is an exact match or tonal, or contrast. The choice is completely personal, there is no right, nor wrong design. But each choice influences the overall design.

This customer chose their fascias in anthracite and carried on this colour choice with their choice of new french doors. Consistently featuring this colour complements their existing front door of the same shade, and not to be replaced as it is still in very good condition. Darker fascias, paired with new black guttering also means that they are less of a prominent feature, whilst providing continuity to the design. A small design choice that really does echo and complement, to provide a cohesive and intentional home design.

One of the benefits of home design is utilising the natural impact that pairing contrasting materials and colours provides. Choosing white, A-rated, UPVC windows in this bungalow perfectly demonstrates this point. Choosing white windows, in a modern and simple frame design, to pair with the darker doors and fascias ensures a modern and elegant design.

This property benefits from not one but two sets of patio doors. We fitted both sets of anthracite french doors with side windows, giving the homeowners great access to their garden for when the weather really heats up. French doors are a classic choice. The benefits of additional light and ventilation make them a popular choice. Entertaining is made easier, if you choose to dine alfresco.

If you have a design in mind or need our assistance to choose the right products for both your project and your budget, we are always happy to help.
