Door Furniture – Merging Function and Design

Close up of Ultion Sweet letterplate and handle

When choosing your new composite front or back door there really is a lot of choice. Now what you will probably focus on first is both the style and the colour. And your choice will be influenced by the architectural type of home, and your own personal style. Front doors are such an important feature, they draw the eye and provide visitors with a first impression of your home.

Is your own personal style bold and flamboyant, or more understated and classically cool? Do you follow trends or prefer to stick with something a bit more traditional?

Design your own door here.

When you have decided on a general look for your front door upgrade, you can then choose a style and a colour to help achieve this. So, what is always recommended is a spot of ‘window shopping.’ Look around your neighbourhood, as this will often help you to decide what would and wouldn’t work for your home. Both traditional and more modern styles come with glazing options, which add beneficial light to your home. And the glass designs themselves can be a stunning addition, one that changes with altering light levels. So glazed styles are well worth considering.

If you choose a solid, or unglazed style of door, then the choice of colour and the door furniture and any accessories you choose will form a fundamental part of the overall look of the door. Each element or design choice is important.

Our suppliers, Hallmark Doors offers a huge range of premium hardware – there’s a choice of 21 finishes across their range. So, if you are looking for traditional design, they have the right products to fit seamlessly with your door. Or if you wish to create a more modern vibe, they have a range of design-led bolder products to give your door more of an impact.

Handles come in various designs from lever/lever handles or lever/pad handles to fixed options including bars and doorknobs. Heritage and Noble designs offer a more traditional look. A forged black monkey tail is one of the most unique handles. Whilst an array of stainless-steel bar handles provide a bolder and more modern finish to your door. When choosing a static bar handle, these are paired with a separate escutcheon (keyhole cover).

Letterboxes or letterplates are available in a range of design options. Form the standard, to heritage. And if you require a high security option, one is available that features anti-fishing baffles to prevent anyone reaching inside with a hand or a tool to try and force entry.

Have you considered a door knocker for your new door? Both a functional addition as well as a design choice. One that doesn’t require batteries, wiring, or internet connectivity! Knockers come in a variety of designs including the simple and stylish bull ring, the more traditional knocker-urn (with or without the addition of a spyhole). Or a modern ingot knocker. For more of a statement consider a heart-shaped knocker or a more nature inspired choice like a bumble bee or dragon fly.

Then finally, consider adding a spyhole. It’s a low-cost but highly effective security upgrade for your home.

Your chosen hardware finish can be chosen to either complement or contrast your door colour depending on your preference. With options including – White, Satin, Black, Silver, Gold, Stainless Steel, Chrome, Rose Gold, Graphite, Forged Black, Antique Black, Brass, Pewter, Satin Brass, Bronze, Antique Graphite, Anthracite Grey, Matt Chrome, Forged Chrome, Heritage, Satin Gold. Finally, all the Hallmark Door furniture ranges have excellent durability as standard. But we also offer Ultion Sweet range which has a 20-year anti-corrosion warranty, for longer lasting results.
